Who needs Tennessee alcohol server training?
Tennessee requires a server permit for people serving liquor, wine or high-gravity beer at establishments with a Liquor-by-the-Drink license. Applicants must be at least 18 and complete TABC-certified training. This is on-premises server training, not a retail-store manager permit course.
How long is Tennessee alcohol server training?
Tennessee law requires at least 3.5 hours of alcohol awareness training. CertReady organizes the course into eight modules. Allow additional time for practice and the final exam.
How much does the Tennessee course cost?

How do I pass the Tennessee course?
Complete the lessons and quizzes, then score at least 70% on the final exam. Your CertReady certificate records successful training. You must also complete the TABC application requirements to receive the actual server permit.

How long is a Tennessee server permit valid?
Tennessee server permits issued on or after January 1, 2025 are valid for two years. Permits issued before that date retain their five-year term. The permit comes from TABC, not from the training provider.
How soon does a new Tennessee server need a permit?
New servers generally have 61 days from their original hire date to complete the requirements and obtain a server permit. This is a one-time grace period, not a new allowance each time you change employers.
