Who needs Rhode Island alcohol server training, and what does state law require?
Rhode Island law requires certified alcohol server training for sellers, servers, supervisors, ID-checking staff and valet staff at establishments with Class B, C, D, J, N or P licenses. Confirm your workplace's license and your duties with your employer.
When must a new employee finish training?
Covered staff generally have 60 days after employment begins. Pawtucket and Smithfield may require completion before employment, so check the local rule before your first shift.
How often is recertification required?
Rhode Island requires recertification every three years. A valid server permit must be kept on the premises during sale or service.
Can Rhode Island alcohol server training be completed online?
